With roughly two months left for candidates to qualify for the Indianola municipal primary election, two have officially filed papers to run for mayor and a half dozen have put their names in the hat for aldermen seats.
The deadline to qualify is August 15, 2025 at 5 p.m., and the primary will be held on October 14, 2025.
Incumbent Mayor Ken Featherstone announced his bid for reelection and filed papers earlier in the year.
Hollis Myrick has filed to run for mayor as well.
As of press time, no one had filed to run for Ward 1 alderman. Kendrick K. Carpenter and Robert L. Campbell have filed to run for the Ward 2 alderman seat, which is currently held by Darrell Simpson.
Calvin Moton has filed to run for the Ward 3 alderman seat, which is currently held by Ruben Woods.
Johnny Phillips and Dana Myrick Jr. have filed to run for the Ward 4 alderman seat, which is currently held by Marvin Elder.
Rodreigus Young has filed to run for the Ward 5 alderman seat, which is currently held by Sam Brock Jr.
