Joy Smith Obrecht, 78, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Trezevant Allen Morgan Nursing Home in Memphis, TN. Born on October 9, 1947, to Robert Earl Smith and Iona Davis Smith. Joy was one of three children. She graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1965.
After graduation, Joy began working in the banking industry at The Bank of Clarksdale. Joy then went to work at W. L. Holcomb as an Executive Secretary and was soon promoted to Office Manager. That wasn’t challenging enough so Joy earned her real estate license.

She was born Oct. 16, 1925.

Nellie Casburn Percer, age 80, of Franklin, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on January 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a prolonged illness. She was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Robert Casburn, Jr. and Eileen Casburn. Nellie enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Sumner, Mississippi, and later moved to Clarksdale. She eventually settled in Memphis and Piperton, Tennessee, where she lived for most of her life.

Sister Mary Bertoli, SNJM, 94, born June 7, 1931, died on December 11, 2025 in Lake Oswego, OR. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, January 8, 11am, Chapel of the Holy Names, in Marylhurst, Oregon. Burial follows at Holy Names Cemetery.
Daughter of Christopher and Frances O’Brien Bertoli, Mary was born in Michigan, coming to Portland as a teenager. She joined the Holy Names in 1950, eventually receiving the religious name Sister Mary Zita. She was a teacher, an administrator, a social worker, and an artist.

Hatchett
Thomas Lee Hatchett, lovingly known as “Pops” and “Mr. T,” went to be with the Lord, passing peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man whose life was marked by service, generosity, and quiet strength.
He was the only child born to J.T. Hatchett and Lorraine Berryhill Hatchett on July 11, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Clarksdale High School and Mississippi State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1956.
