Incumbent Mayor Steve Rosenthal currently owns 49.5 percent of the vote for Indianola mayor, according to machine, absentee and curbside vote counts on election night.
Affidavits will be counted the morning after the election.
Vivian Jenkins is in second place at 39.3 percent of the vote.
Mario Robinson, the third candidate for mayor in the Democratic primary, ended the night with 271 votes.
Rosenthal could overtake the 50 percent, plus one threshold needed to win after the affidavit count, but if these numbers hold up, the two will head to an Oct. 31 runoff.
