Parchman inmate with underlying condition dies, tests positive for COVID-19

An inmate housed at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman who died recently tested positive for COVID-19.

A Monday evening release from the Mississippi Department of Corrections did not identify the prisoner, but it did say that he was isolated immediately after showing symptoms of the virus.

Sunflower County COVID-19 cases up on Thursday

The number of patients diagnosed with the novel coronavirus jumped to 32 on Thursday.

According to the Mississippi State Department of Health, there has still been one death related to COVID-19 in the county, and there are no reports of outbreaks at long-term care facilities.
