Ruleville declines to rehire its police chief, mayor says

Ruleville’s board of aldermen chose on Tuesday night to not rehire longtime Police Chief Ernie Scarber.
Mayor Michael Clark told The Enterprise-Tocsin on Wednesday morning that Scarber’s more than a decade-long tenure with the department is over.
“He wasn’t rehired,” Clark said.

Sam Brock Jr. has submitted his papers for reelection for the city’s Ward 5 seat.

Marshals track down suspect in 2023 Indianola homicide

U.S. Marshals have arrested the second suspect in a 2023 Indianola homicide.
Ke’Marion Ward, 19, was taken into custody in the Memphis area this week, IPD Chief Ronald Sampson confirmed to The Enterprise-Tocsin on Wednesday.
Ward faces a capital murder charge in the December 10, 2023 shooting of Germaniee Stephens.
